Gorilla Trekking — Rwanda & Uganda
An hour, face to face with a mountain gorilla family.
Of the world's ~1,000 mountain gorillas, all live in the volcanic forests of Rwanda and Uganda. JETBAY secures the scarce daily trekking permits, a private guide and a forest lodge — for the rarest hour in wildlife travel.
The trek
Guides track a habituated gorilla family through the bamboo and montane forest; once found, you have one quiet hour with them at close range. Altitude and terrain vary, so treks run from one to six hours.
Beyond the gorillas
Pair Rwanda's Volcanoes with Uganda's Bwindi for a second permit, add golden-monkey tracking, or extend to a chimpanzee trek in Nyungwe Forest.
June–September and December–February — the drier trekking seasons.
